Our Mission
By performers, for performers
We are performers first and foremost. We know that there are great publishers out there putting out music for research or academic purposes. But our focus is you, the performing musician. It is not enough for a good performing edition to be correct—it must be easy to read and perform from as well.
Get out of the way
How many times have you played a great piece but the page turns are horrible? Or there are no bar numbers or rehearsal marks? Print is too small? These are all distractions that you shouldn’t need to deal with. We take great care in our layout so that nothing gets in the way of your musicianship.
Be accurate
Finding printing errors should not your job. That goes without saying. We have an extensive review process to minimize the printing errors that creep into scores and parts. In case we do find a mistake, we’ll send you a corrected copy at no cost. That’s our commitment to accuracy and to you.
Be transparent
Tired of Baroque works being over-romanticized by editors? Confused as to which articulations are from the composer and which are an editor’s opinion? We take a performer’s approach. We provide our edited version of what we think the composer intended, but we clearly document and justify the edits that we make. So you can trust us to provide you a reasonable interpretation right out of the gate, but if you want to dig deeper, you have all the information you need to make your own editorial decisions.
